Editorial Standards

Editorial Standards

Readership is independently curated. Listings are selective by design and reviewed for relevance, accuracy, and public usefulness.

Selection

Listings are selective by design, not exhaustive. Entries are included because they are judged relevant, accurate, and useful to readers in that city. Submissions and commercial support may help bring something to Readership’s attention, but they do not guarantee publication, wording, ranking, recommendation, or continued placement.

Sourcing

Readership.in documents public reading life with restraint. We prefer official websites, official social pages, institution pages, and clearly attributable public records. We do not fill gaps with assumption.

Verification status

Every listing is marked with one of four verification states: verified, partially verified, needs verification, or possibly inactive. We do not list quiet cafés as literary spaces unless there is evidence of reading-related use, do not convert one-time events into recurring calendar entries without proof, and do not publish unsupported people profiles.

City editions

Readership is built one city at a time. A city moves from research, to priority, to an active edition as its verified working set deepens. Cities in research or priority status are already published, with thinner, more clearly labelled listings; no city edition is published with invented or unverified entries.

AI and editorial review

AI tools may be used to assist research, for example, surfacing candidates worth investigating. AI does not publish entries. Every listing is reviewed by an editor for relevance, accuracy and public usefulness before it appears in the Index.

Corrections and updates

If something is inaccurate, outdated, inactive, or should be removed, write to hello@readership.in. Corrections and updates are reviewed and applied as quickly as the index allows.

Commercial support

Readership may accept commercial support for listings, announcements, or featured placements. Commercial support does not guarantee inclusion, recommendation, ranking, positive coverage, editorial wording, or continued publication. Every published entry should remain useful to readers and clearly understandable in format.
