The note

It is tempting to reduce Jaipur to festival shorthand: the Jaipur Literature Festival is the most internationally visible literary event in India, and Jaipur BookMark is its publishing-industry counterpart. Both are real and important. But neither tells you what Jaipur’s reading life looks like in March, or August.

This edition deliberately builds around JLF, Jaipur BookMark, and Jawahar Kala Kendra’s library programming first, rather than reaching for thinly-sourced local bookstores or reading groups to fill out a fuller-looking page.
